Preston Lowe decided to drop the "Fantastic 5 Songs of the Week" show and starting next week launch "The Fresh 5 Songs of the Week" on KYOU in San Francisco. KYOU station manager Stephen Page contacted Lowe about the possibilities of new directions last Friday. Lowe and Page agreed that the listening public would be better served hearing songs that most radio stations don't have the guts to move on quickly enough. Lowe said, "I've been a Music Director for 7 years, I know it's more research than instinct these days and I understand why it's done that way. The face of radio has changed, there's satellite, podcasting and soon digital radio which means more competition. Since the new technology has become actual competition, how will your programming cut through in the future if you don't have a gut instinct about a record? The Fresh 5 songs of the week will be 5 songs straight from my gut." The show will also feature artist interviews, entertainment news and Preston and Perry's famous Police Blotter report. Preston and Perry Lowe are still in talks with a local cable network about bringing a version of their radio show to television.
